Lions Club of Ballarat's visits the children's and maternity wards at the Ballarat Base Hospital every year, to bring joy to sick children.
For 11-year-old Jackson Templeton, and his mum Alycia Beer, the run up to Easter has been filled with anxiety, as doctors tried to pinpoint the location of a staph infection.
After a night of tears on Monday, a visit to the GP to check his sore foot resulted in Jackson being sent straight to hospital. A torrent of blood tests, x-rays and MRIs followed.
"I was actually not even going to take him to the doctors ... but it was clear something was not right."
A bone scan on Tuesday will hopefully help doctors to decipher where Jackson's blood infection stemmed from. But for now, the 11-year old has made himself at home in the children's ward, with Fortnite gaming posters lining the wall behind his bed.
A special visit from the Easter Bunny has made his time in hospital just a tiny bit sweeter.
"This is the most excitement we've had since we've been here," Ms Beer said.
Lions Club of Ballarat president Bill Sleep said the simple gesture was a way of giving back, after watching his six-year-old grandson battle leukemia. He's since made a full recovery.
"Most of the little kiddies in hospital today can't go home. But when they see the bunny, their faces light up," he said.
For three-year-old Lucas Cornell-Brown, some soft toys and eggs delivered straight to the children's ward was a source of delight after spending a night in hospital with a nasty infection.
"Yesterday was the scariest day ever," his mum Nicole said, "but the doctors here have been amazing and sorted him out, so we'll be going home any minute.
"This is the first Easter he's going to remember. and he's spent it in hospital, away from his brothers and family.
"He's scared and in pain, but the Easter Bunny was magic."
