Gerry Verde was caught driving an unregistered car without a licence on July 2, 2018, in Gladstone Street, Mount Pleasant.
Police impounded his car for 30 days.
Verde pleaded guilty at the Ballarat Magistrates Court on Tuesday to unlicensed driving, driving an unregistered vehicle and breaching a community corrections order.
The court was told Verde's partner was visiting her unwell mother when she phoned Verde to pick her up.
He got behind the wheel but police, who knew he was an unlicensed driver, intercepted him.
Defence barrister Michael Kats said his client had a foot injury, depression and very poor memory.
He said in relation to breaching the CCO, Verde could not complete the work component because he had a foot injury.
But he said Verde was well enough now to complete the community work.
Magistrate Barry Schultz said Verde's offending showed a consistent pattern of non-compliance.
"This is corrections order four for similar offending," Mr Schultz said.
"This is the last stop before the prison doors. There will come a time where he will go to jail."
The magistrate made no order against Verde's licence, which is still suspended, to allow him to apply for it again.
Verde was convicted and placed back on the previous 12-month community corrections order with a further 50 hours of unpaid community work.
"This will be the last CCO you will receive," Mr Schultz said.
