Soldiers Hill is renowned as an artistic hub of Ballarat and the suburb's creativity will be on show over the next two weekends as the local artists' collective host their 2019 ArtWalk.

It is the fourth year that members of the Soldiers Hill Artists Collective and local businesses have thrown open their doors for the art walk, which draws hundreds of art lovers to the area.
This year the works of 17 artists will be shown across 11 venues including four private homes and studios.
The collective is home to artists working across many different mediums including textile art, painting, printmaking, sculpture, fibre art, paper, work in varied mixed media, furniture and photography, all of which will be on display as part of the ArtWalk.
"The artists of SHAC continue to produce exciting and varied work of an exceptional standard," said former SHAC chair Cliff Adeney.
"ArtWalk is the best way that SHAC can bring its art to the local neighbourhood and the wider Ballarat community."
The private residences will be open at the weekends only between 10am and 4pm, but the businesses will have work displayed in their windows or inside.
Each venue will be marked with a yellow square in the footpath.
For the first time, SHAC ArtWalk will also host a workshop with member Magdalena Kazmierczak, with the help of Abigail Robertson, running an activity to introduce participants to traditional Polish Folk Art called Wycinanki (Veecheenonkee) or paper cut-outs.
The group's goal is to link the buildings and artists within Soldiers Hill, and encourage residents and out of town visitors to go for a walk and look at the streets of Ballarat's oldest suburb through fresh eyes.
Most works of art are for sale directly from the artist.
"This provides you with the opportunity to purchase some outstanding original art and to support the local creative talent in our suburb," Mr Adeney said.
Art Gallery of Ballarat curator Julie McLaren will officially launch ArtWalk 2019 at North Ballarat Bowling Club on Friday night.
Visitors can grab a map from the Ballarat Information Centre, Art Gallery of Ballarat, all participating venues in Soldiers Hill, and other venues in Ballarat. The map will also be available from www.shacballarat.org.au and the group's Facebook and Instagram pages.
A separate series of artists studios will be open across Ballan, Mt Egerton and Gordon from 10am to 3.30pm on Saturday and Sunday as 28 artists of the Wombat Regional Arts Network showcase their creative output at nine venues across the district.
