Toasted sandwiches were parachuted from the roof of hospitality venue Hop Temple on Wednesday morning to mark the launch of month-long food festival Plate Up Ballarat.

More than 50 ticketed events scheduled throughout May will showcase Ballarat's food offerings, craft beers, boutique wines and locally sourced produce.
A diverse selection of 23 toasties will be on offer at participating Ballarat venues as part of the Toast of Ballarat competition.
Diners can vote online for their favourite toastie. The Courier will launch a competition next week encouraging toastie lovers to send in a review of their top flavour pick.
Hop Temple will offer a mac n cheese toastie with Black Cat Truffle oil as part of the Toast of Ballarat competition throughout May.
Manager Zac Hill said Plate Up Ballarat was a fantastic showcase of local producers and hospitality venues and would bring attractive food events to the town.
Hop Temple will host a Blues, Brews and Boilermakers event on Sunday. Live blues music on Sunday afternoon is free for guests, while a sold out boilermaker masterclass will run upstairs, taking participants through the delicate matchings of beer and whiskey.

Plate Up Ballarat director Kate Davis said Plate Up Ballarat was about pushing boundaries and doing the unexpected.
"This morning we definitely did that with our parachuted toastie drop," she said.
"I was in a venue last night and was talking to the venue owner and another venue owner. It clicked for me our hospitality industry is working together. That is fundamentally important, but they are also supporting our local producers another really important reason as to why we started Plate Up Ballarat."
