Event secretary Nina Loyd told The Courier the section of Victoria Park the event was being held in received over 110 millilitres of rain on Thursday and Friday, leading to some events being cancelled.
Ms Lloyd said ground staff worked through Friday night clearing water from the cross-country course. She also commended the 450 competitors who stayed through the weekend, often competing in the rain.
"People were amazing," she said.
"We just wanted to make the event perfect for them and they showed awesome resiliency toughing it out."
The dressage and show jumping events on Saturday were not impacted by the rain as they took place on sand. The rain had mostly stopped by Sunday which allowed for a great day of more show jumping and the final cross-country events.
