Ballarat boarders from St Patrick's College, Ballarat Grammar and Ballarat Clarendon College have marked National Boarder's Week with a big donation to the needy.

Boarders from the schools have spent the past week collecting winter woollies from classmates and the community, to be donated to Ballarat's less fortunate.
On Friday the groups marched to the Olympic Rings at Lake Wendouree with armfuls of donations, and a gold coin donation each.

St Patrick's College head of boarding Mike Silcock said there were almost 450 boarders across the three schools in Ballarat.
"All our boys and girls across the three schools are privileged to be boarders, and this is our way of giving back to others," he said.
