City lost its 11th-straight match after going down 2-1 to the Goulburn Valley Suns on Saturday.
The home side set the tone early by controlling much of the play and was rewarded on the stroke of half time when Tristan Romein found the back of the net. But the one-goal lead proved too little for City after the break as Goulburn's increased second-half pressure generated opportunities for the visitors in front of goal. After scoring an equaliser from a corner, the Suns struck again in the 84th minute to put the game out of reach. 17-year-old Lleyton Laughton made his first appearance in the run-on squad for City and earned praise from coach James Robinson after the match for his fearless effort.
