Signposts were ripped out of the ground in the crash, which occurred on a quiet suburban street.
The blue station wagon had damage on the bonnet and a flat front tire, and its license plates had been removed.
A red plastic gas canister could be seen on the backseat of the vehicle, with lighters and other phone chargers visible in the front centre console.
It is not yet known if the car was stolen.
Sergeant Rick Nield said police were now trying to get in touch with the owner of the car, which had been at the scene for some time before police arrived.
