The college's primary pupils joined millions of children across Australia to read Matthew Cosgrove's Alpacas with Maracas at 11am on Wednesday as part of the 19th national storytime.
Before the reading the students got face to face with two members of the species who star in the book - suri alpacas Millhouse, 5, and Chief, 6, from Creswick Woollen Mills.
"Millhouse is the friendliest alpaca we have, and the only one who will let you pat him," said farmer Cam Torresi, who answered questions from the pjyama-clad students who were dressed in their nightwear for charity.
School librarian Kylie Weightman said the themes from Alpacas in Maracas had also been woven through other learning opportunities at school.
