Melbourne-based band Vintage Roots will perform in The Stables at The Pub With Two Names on Friday night, with guest vocalist MintiDee.
Performing jazz-inspired covers of pop and rock favourites - such as tunes by Cold Chisel, Blondie, The Living End and Hall & Oates - saxophonist Paul Van Ross said the inspiration came from a US jazz cover of Livin' On A Prayer online.
"I was inspired by (youtube channel) Post Modern Jukebox, but I thought us Aussies could probably do it a bit better," he said.
The night is peppered with a 'Popkwiz', where audiences members can win a prize for nailing trivia questions about the musical covered by the band over the evening.
Tickets range from $20 to $30, starts at 7.30pm, dinner available before the show. More information at jazzseries.com.au
