The 6'5 guard caught the attention of the franchise on the back of his strong play in the inaugural NBL1 competition.
Kuany has enjoyed a stellar campaign with the Miners, which sit atop the NBL1 ladder.
He has been a key component to Ballarat's success in the early part of the season, posting a scoring average of 17.2 points-per-game.
Although the offer came as a surprise to the 23-year-old, he said he had a feeling he'd be picked up by an NBL club because of the way the Miners had been playing.
"The fact we were winning and everyone was playing well and sharing the basketball has definitely made a difference," he said.
"I've been battling hard throughout the season and it's good to see that coaches are taking note.
"For them to choose me to be on the team means a lot, and it shows the hard work is paying off."
Kuany will join the likes of NBA player Andrew Bogut, and former Melbourne United superstar Casper Ware in the Harbour city at the end of the NBL1 season later this year.
Kuany said the opportunity to play with such big name players was immensely exciting.
"Andrew Bogut is playing for an NBA championship right now, and to have someone like that come back and play on the same team as me is definitely exciting," he said.
"It's exciting to be able to play with them and learn from them as well."
Kuany is the second Ballarat Miners player to sign with an NBL club in as many weeks after teammate Deng Acuoth inked a deal with the South East Melbourne Phoenix.
It will be third season in the NBL for the South Sudanese-born player after spending the last two seasons with the Cairns Taipans before making his way to Ballarat.
He told The Courier the offer was a good confidence boost and had made him more excited for the rest of the NBL1 season.
"If anything it's made me want to play harder because I know that a lot of people are going to be watching us, so I want to work harder and keep getting more wins," he said.
Sydney Kings CEO Chris Pongrass said he was pleased to have Kuany joining the group.
"Kuany's another player who brings great character to the system that we're trying to build here and we're really pleased to have him joining us" he said.
"He's a dynamic young guard and wing who's proven himself this off-season in the NBL1 with the Ballarat Miners.
"He'll bring great energy off the bench behind Kevin Lisch and Brad Newley."
Kuany is one of eight contracted players who are signed to the Kings next season.
The Kings have two roster spots remaining.
