The Victorian under-19 championships will be played alongside the Ballarat junior and masters tournaments at Ken Kay Stadium.
The state titles include under-19, under-17, under-15, under-13 and under-11 age divisions.
They double as state selection trials.
The masters, which are part of a Badmintion Victoria series, will cater for 35, 45 and 55/over.
The two-day event has attracted 144 players.
Boys' under-11, under-13 and under-15 singles have the biggest entries, with 23, 27 and 24 respectively. Girls' under-11 and boys' under-19 each have 14 entries.
