The Buninyong Film Festival (BFF) took over the town hall, with Cannes favourite Happy as Lazzaro and Midnight Oil 1984 captivating crowds.
On Sunday afternoon, after sitting through popular Australian film Oddball, the young audience was greeted by leading animal trainer Luke Hura and his talented Australian Terrier, Trinny.
Co-organiser Lisa Cressey said they'd had "amazing feedback" and a "good turnout". She said the standout film was Capernaum, which follows a 12-year-old Syrian refugee who sues his parents for the life they have given him in the slums of Lebanon.
BFF organisers said they would consider moving the date of the festival next year, to avoid clashing with Ballarat Heritage Week.
