A MAN in his 30s was taken to St John of God Hospital in Ballarat after the car he was driving crashed into a tree on the Meredith-Mount Mercer Road at 7pm on Sunday night.
The man was the only occupant of the vehicle that lost control in slippery conditions.
He was taken to hospital in a stable condition.
As the cold weather descends on the region over the next few days, police are warning motorists to take extra care in slippery weather.
They are warning of the dangers of black ice which is expected to form over the next few days in the early morning.
