At four weeks of age, Isabelle, from Lake Wendouree, was in the Royal Children's Hospital having a heart operation, after being born with her heart around the wrong way.
But today, looking at the bubbly and active two-and-a-half year old you would not know anything had ever been wrong.
"She's a miracle baby," Mum Sarah Jane said.
"If it wasn't for the doctors at the Royal Children's Hospital, she may not have been here, they really are such wonderful heroes for HeartKids."
Isabelle was recently in Melbourne to help promote Heartkids Super Boss Day, which will be held on Friday.
She joined Collingwood Football Club stars and HeartKids ambassadors, Jaidyn Stephenson - a former HeartKid himself - and Penny Cula-Reid to promote Super Boss Day which raises funds to support families fighting Congenital Heart Disease (CHD), Australia's leading causes of infant death.
"We're big Collingwood fans, and to go up and spend some time with Jaidyn, who's also a HeartKid was a wonderful experience," Mrs Wilson said.
Super Boss Day encourages children to dress up and be super heroes for the day.
For Isabelle, she has no ongoing issues despite her difficult start to life.
"We don't have to go and see the doctor for another two years now," Mrs Wilson said.
"Obviously we continue to monitor and see what happens and what she can handle.
"She's a happy little girl and we just can't wait to watch her growing up, she's the boss of the household. It's absolutely fabulous."
Funds raised through Super Boss Day will help HeartKids deliver vital services including in-hospital and family support programs, camps for children and young people living with CHD, as well as vital education days and peer support programs to help families cope with the emotional and financial burden of the disease.
