Joel Antonio (Creswick), Johnathan O'Brien (Springbank) and James Lukich (Waubra) share the lead with 15 votes after seven rounds.
Antonio and O'Brien were judged their team's best players to poll three votes and close the gap on Lukich.
Lukich received one vote behind teammates Lincoln Barnes and Ryan Head.
Antonio, O'Brien and Lukich vare one vote ahead of Ballan's Darren Tanti, who was another to get maximum votes in the club-based award.
Jackson Murphy (Bungaree) is next on 13 votes.
There is then a gap of foiur back top a big group as the season closes in on the halfway mark.
The CHFL has opne more round before taking a break for the Queen's Birthday long weekend.
