The Roos officially secured James for another year this week and announced it to club supporters via an internal Facebook page.
James is currently in his second season at the helm after taking over from Grant Luscombe at the end of the 2017 campaign.
A shocking run of injuries has severely hampered James' playing career and meant he has led the team from the sidelines.
And it has been a great time in charge for the former Redan footballer, who took the Roos to a preliminary final last year and has started 2019 unbeaten after seven rounds.
In all, James has coached 23 wins from just 26 games in charge.
The Roos will look to extend their undefeated run to eight matches this Saturday when they come up against Learmonth.
A major inclusion for the side is that of defender Jackson Kinna, who has not been seen since sustaining a nasty ankle injury in the round two win over Beaufort.
In all, Waubra has made four changes to the side that beat Clunes last Saturday. Others coming back are James Petrie, Alex McPherson and Jarred Crabtree.
Making way is Jesse Sardo, Nathan Patrikeos, Dylan Hinchliffe and Lachlan McLeod.
Learmonth has also made four changes at the selection table with Darcy Robinson, Matthew Harbour, Nick Bone and Thomas Bennett the inclusions.
