The Miners once again faced a zone defence for much of the game which limited their ability to get to the rim. They settled for outside jump-shots on a lot of possessions which just couldn't seem to find the bottom of the basket.
Frankston took a four-point lead into the first break before extending their lead in the second half to as many as 15 points.
The Miners looked tired on both ends of the floor, failing to contest shots by the Blues leading to a 52-41 half-time deficit.
Blues guard Damon Bozeman had a terrific first half, scoring 21 points while only missing two shots.
The Miners came out with a renewed sense of energy in the second half, clawing their way back into the game due to some crisp passing.
Ballarat just could retake the lead, as their outside shooting woes and consistent shooting from the Blues held them back.
Jerry Evans Jr was uncharacteristically poor from the outside, missing all eight of his three-point attempts.
A fourth quarter push from Marqueze Coleman gave the Miners their best chance to pull in front, closing the Blues lead to one-point.
Ultimately it was not enough for the Miners as they will head home from Frankston with a disappointing loss.
Jenkins' free-throws seal overtime win for Rush
The Ballarat Rush have bounced back from their Saturday night loss at home to the Ringwood Hawks, outlasting the Frankston Blues in an overtime thriller.
The Blues pulled ahead early, starting the game on a 10-0 run before Ballarat got themselves back into the contest, tying the contest at quarter-time 19-19.
Rush player Olivia Hackmann followed up her strong Saturday night performance by scoring 32 points and knocking down a further four three-pointers.
The Rush were able to extend their own lead out to double digits in the third quarter as they pushed the pace off Frankston Turnovers and missed shots.
The Blues showed great resiliency, keeping themselves in the game with consistent outside shooting and their swarming defence.
With the score tied 82-82, Rush tall Lucy Cochrane had the opportunity to win the game for Ballarat in the final seconds of regulation.
Her shot was unfortunately just off, rolling around the rim and out, leading to overtime.
The extra period mirrored much of the game as the two sides traded baskets until the very end.
The Rush looked in trouble with 32 second remaining, as an offensive foul called on Joy Burke gifted the Blue an opportunity at victory.
Good defence from the Rush forced led to a Frankston miss before Ballarat guard Chanise Jenkins drew a foul with 2.8 second left. She hit both free-throws.
Frankston's last second heave was no good and the game ended in a Rush victory.
