Speaking with The Courier, Robinson said his team's recent form (14 consecutive losses and 15 goals conceded in the past four games), was not concerning to him.
"I don't think there's any disappointment on our end, it's just been a learning experience," he said.
"The boys are getting better with more experience and more exposure."
City has fielded a team without a great deal of experience so far this season in the National Premier League 2 West competition, with the average age of their team sitting at 22-years-old.
Robinson said as long as he keeps seeing his side play the right way and continue to develop, he isn't concerned with wins and losses.
"We know each week is about getting better and development, winning is not the be-all and end-all for this side - it's not the main focal point.
"If you know that you're doing the right thing on the pitch the confidence grows, the resilience grows and the winning mentality grows."
Looking ahead to their round 16 contest at home against the Bulleen Lions, Robinson is expecting the usual competitive match-up.
"Everyone in this league can beat everyone so there's a sense of preparation and respect you have to have going into any game."
Robinson is not letting his team get caught up in how to stop the Lions, rather ensuring City plays the correct way and achieves the goals they lay of for themselves.
"We're hosting another very solid team in Bulleen but focusing on what they're going to do is only a small part of our preparation... We're looking at what we can do both with and without the ball that will lead to our success.
"We're looking to not only maintain possession but also shift the opposition to help create those opportunities... being patient but also decisive are things we've identified as important factors for creating opportunities.
We just aim to control the controllable parts of the game, be ready for the unexpected and adapt across the game.
- Ballarat City coach James Robinson.
Bulleen are looking for some consistency in their play as they come off a hard-fought loss to the North Geelong Warriors at home.
The Lions have only lost two of their past nine games and sit in second position on the NPL 2 East ladder.
Ballarat City are in last place on the ladder and are hoping to take some points away from their next two games at home.
