Ballarat pitcher Jordan Isbister struck out seven Lara batters and was backed up by an elite defensive day from his fielders, who had zero errors in the contest.
After driving in runs at the bottom of the fourth and fifth innings, a massive two-run home run from Leigh Ashmore in the seventh sealed what was a terrific win for Ballarat.
The Royals next contest will be against Deakin at home in a Saturday night game under the lights at Prince of Whales Park. The Royals won the two side's last meeting in round six, thumping the Blues 14-6.
