Wehrung, from Ballarat, is part of the Emerging Opals team announced by UniSport Australia on Monday.
The squad, along with the Emerging Boomers, will compete at the 2019 Summer Universiade in Naples, Italy between July 3-14.
Wehrung and teammates Alex Sharp, Keely Froling and Lauren Scherf will aim to replicate their gold medal-winning feats from two years ago in Taipei.
That Australian success followed on from a previous gold medal in 2007 as well as bronze medals in 2005, 2009, 2011 and 2013.
Wehrung, who has grown up playing in Ballarat, is now aligned with the Bendigo Spirit in the WNBL. She is currently spending the WNBL off-season playing with Knox Raiders in the NBL1.
A total of 16 teams will battle for the gold medal in the men's and women's competitions with the Emerging Opals drawn into group D alongside China, Finland and Canada.
The Australians must finish in the top two from its group to advance to the finals but classification games are played through to the last day to determine final standings.
The tournament is the largest multi-sport event outside the Olympic Games and features almost 10,000 athletes who are currently completing university studies.
