Twelve-year-old Blake is battling rare disorder severe aplastic anaemia, a cancer with which the body fails to produce enough blood cells. It is the same rare and fatal disorder of Maddie Riewoldt, the sister of former St Kilda captain Nick Riewoldt.
Blake this week helped to launch the annual Maddie's Match campaign led by St Kilda and Richmond to be played at Marvel Stadium on June 30.
Improvement remains slow for Blake, who had a bone marrow transplant in March 2017. He goes to school when he can but still misses a lot.
Blake's dad Luke Dridan said Blake often felt sick, tired and a lot of general soreness.
Mr Dridan said community and sporting support, like from the Australian cricketers, was amazing.
Blake's Richmond AFL heroes have maintained close ties and he has also played 13th man to the Victorian Bushrangers in the Sheffield Shield.
