The Dragons had to battle to get over Gisborne after the Rookies came out firing on all cylinders in the first quarter.
After trailing 19-18 at the first break, the Dragons clamped down on Gisborne, holding them to a single-point for the remainder of the game while they were able to move the ball quickly, ultimately running away with a 62-20 victory.
Elsewhere both Bacchus Marsh and Melton put their best foot forward in their prospects of a top four finish, registering wins against Sebastopol and Carisbrook respectively.
Darley registered its first win of the season, overcoming the Lakers on the road thanks to a blistering first half of play and Redan remained unbeaten after seven games with a comfortable win over Melton Centrals.
