Val Sarah inducted into order of chivalry

BALLARAT resident Val Sarah is the newest inductee in the oldest surviving international Christian order of chivalry. Ms Sarah said the investiture would help her to continue her work with the community“The Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, Knights Hospitaller, had its origins early in the 11th century,” Ms Sarah said.“Its guiding principal is still serving the poor and the needy.”Born in Britain, Ms Sarah came to Australia in 1962. Her community contributions include being chairwoman of Her Majesty’s Theatre board for seven years and co-writing the 130-year history of the theatre.Inaugural president of the Ballarat Arts Foundation since 2000, Ms Sarah has also served as an ambassador for the City of Ballarat and is patron of Relay for Life.Ms Sarah, said she was thankful to her family and friends for nominating her. “It is a wonderful opportunity to meet extraordinary people with a wealth of different life experiences. “I look forward to working with members of the order to assist those in need in Australian communities.”
