A top-place finish will be at stake for the league-leading Miners in what will be their first of two games this week. A win would mean the Miners lock-up first place on the NBL1 table and be guaranteed home-court advantage come play-off time.

It will be second the meeting this season between the two squads which sit first and third on the ladder. Ballarat Miners head coach Brendan Joyce said the match-up could likely be a preview of things to come in the post-season.

"They are a pretty good team, and I think they'll be a team that will likely be in the top-four, and they'd be eyeing this game to secure a top-four position," he said.

The Miners emerged victorious in a physical encounter against the Supercats in a low scoring affair in Geelong three weeks ago. Joyce said he wasn't expecting the Supercats to make too many adjustments.

"I think in their eyes, they think their game plan worked pretty well because of the low scoring,"he said.

"If you can hold a team to around 60 points you're not to going to make too many changes, and I think they'll be thinking they have our number in terms of how to defend us."

Joyce said playing at home will aid the Miners in their game-plan to come out aggressively.

Miners forward Jerry Evans jr said he expected another intense affair.

"Playing in front of your crowd gives you that extra energy and belief down the stretch," he said.

Meanwhile the Ballarat Rush will look to keep its play-off hopes alive in its showdown with Geelong Wednesday's curtain-raiser.

The Rush are yet to defeat the Supercats this season but will enter the game confident after an impressive win over Diamond Valley.

Ballarat Rush import Chanise Jenkins said she expected a big effort from a Supercats outfit which will be shorthanded due to the University Games.

"They are the top team for a reason but we are finding our rhythm and anything could happen," she said.
