An AFL Victoria panel heard the appeal in Melbourne on Thursday night, reducing the penalty to one match.
Burton will miss Saturday's Ballarat Football League match against Lake Wendouree at Maddingley Park.
Burton appealed against a three-game suspension handed down by the AFL Goldfields tribunal, which found him guilty of rough conduct.

The charge followed an investigation into a tackle he laid on Darley player Andrew Azzopardi at Bacchus Marsh on June 8.
Jay Homewood (back) is also out for the Cobras.
Ricky Shortis and Lleyton Pigott go in for the Marsh, with each having spent all season in the reserves.
