First up, there is a degree of success at the elite level which has the diehards thrilled and talking about a revival of the glory days 20 and 30 years ago.
Perhaps more subtly, but even more significant, is how this sport is thriving at a grassroots level with the competition fielding record numbers of teams at almost all ages.
This level of participation is a strong indicator of an active and thriving community, reflected in everything from the potential of healthy, engaged kids to the level of devoted volunteerism. The Courier has been proud to reflect all this.
