Waubra, Bungaree, Dunnstown, Skipton and Carngham-Linton are placed between eight and twelfth respectively and are separated by only four points with six games remaining.
Four of these five sides will play each other at the weekend in what is sure to get the ladder shuffling.
Perhaps the biggest game will be the Emus hosting the Roos. Recovering from two poor seasons which saw Skipton manage only four wins, a victory over Waubra would be the side's sixth of the year and keep them in shouting distance of the eighth finals spot.
On the other side, Waubra is looking to continue its three-year finals streak as they coming out of the bye-week with fresh legs.
Facing a difficult run home across the following five weeks which features games against top-eight sides Buninyong, Springbank and Gordon, the meeting with the Emus is somewhat of a must-win.
Elsewhere Bungaree will host a hungry Carngham-Linton side looking to make up for its costly loss to Skipton the week prior.
The Demons will be hoping to continue their recent form, winning two of their past three outings including a 32-goal thrashing of the last-placed Daylesford in round 11.
Bungaree's movement across the offensive side of the court has been it's bread-and-butter so far this season, averaging slightly over 45-goals per game.
