Sebastopol has taken another giant stride closer to a first finals appearance in the Ballarat Football League since 2000.
The Burra produced close to its best performance of the year to comfortably defeat Redan by 49 points at the City Oval on Saturday.
Final scores: Sebastopol 16.11 (109) d Redan 9.6 (60).
Redan went into the day without ruckman Orren Stephenson, who was a withdrawal from the selected side.
His loss hurt the Lions badly, allowing Sebastopol's Toby Thoolen to control the ruck duels and then the likes of Luke Kiel and Lachie Cassidy to reap the benefits.
Brett Goodes (4 goals) was lively from the outset as a deep forward and with James Keeble (5 goals) and Michael Powell (2 goals) formed a combination Redan was unable to control.
While still just the one game inside the top six, the fourth-placed Sebastopol is now just one wins behind Darley (second) and Redan (third) and with a health percentage.
The Burra took the upperhand in the second term and then after a hard-fought third stanza kicked away with five goals.
After a strong start to the season, Redan is now feeling some pressure after two losses in a row.
EAST Point has moved a win clear on top of the ladder after downing Darley in a see-sawing contest at the Eastern Oval.
The Kangaroos eased away late, 15.9 (99) to 11.11 (77).
Although the the top six has compacted, North Ballarat City and Lake Wendouree were the only sides to change positions on the ladder.
They swapped places with North Ballarat going up one spot to eight after holding control against Ballarat at Mars Stadium all day.
Finals scores: North Ballarat City 14.14 (98) d Ballarat 7.6 (48)
City had six goals before the Swans got on the board in the second quarter, and by then the match was largely decided.
LAKE Wendouree suffered a similar fate against Bacchus Marsh at Maddingley Park, where the Cobras kept Lake goalless in the first term to open up what would be a match-winning break.
MELTON took the honours in the derby against Melton South at MacPherson Park, but the Bloods had to do much harder than they would have expected.
Melton 10.15 (77) d Melton South 5.3 (33)
