After the two side's both found the back of the net in the first half, Ballarat couldn't find an answer to Lara's second goal, going down 2-1.
The loss hurts the Red's promotion hopes as they now drop two wins behind the ladder-leading Branstoneworth with eight games remaining.
The Reds past three games have been a roller-coaster of form including a 5-0 loss and a 7-0 victory.
Ballarat will be hoping to some more consistent form at home against West Point SC.
The two sides have met once before this season, with Ballarat coming away with a 1-0 win on the road.
The Reds will host West Point at Trekardo Park on Saturday at 3pm.
