Having beaten Lara in the sides previous two meetings, including a 10-0 shutout in round 10, the Royals went into the contest full of confidence which seemed justified when they ran in two runs in the opening inning.
Ballarat were able to hold into the lead until the bottom of the third innings when things began to spiral out of control.
Lara took the lead after a two run inning in the third before knocking the Royals all-around the park over the fourth and fifth innings.
The Wildcats put 11 runs on the board across the final two innings to secure a dominant victory at home.
The loss drops the Royals to fourth spot on the competition ladder ahead of its round 15 match-up on the road against the third-placed Guild Allstars.
