The Emus defeated ninth-placed Bungaree on Saturday to break a game and percentage clear inside the top eight with three home and away rounds remaining.

Skipton, which is looking to become the first former Lexton Plains club to play CHFL senior finals, scored a 23-point win on the Demons' turf.

Bungaree got off to a flying start to lead by 25 points at the first change before Skipton returned fire and took a one-point advantage into half time. The Emus opened up a five-point margin by the final change before running away to score an 11.8 (74) to 7.9 (51) success.

The other big match of round 14 was at Wallace where Waubra maintained its unbeaten record in 2019.

The Roos trailed 23-0 at quater time, but held off the huge challenge from Springbank to triumph by eight points.

Waubra is still two games clear of second-placed Newlyn at the top of the ladder.

The Cats thrashed Carngham-Linton on Saturday as Marcus Darmody booted eight goals to take his season tally to 85.

But it was not even close to the biggest haul of the weekend. That honour went to Hepburn gun Sam Dunstan, who kicked 14 in the Burras' 137-point victory against Creswick.

Dunstan now has 69 goals for the year.

Elsewhere, Lachlan Murray booted eight majors as Beaufort easily beat Ballan, Derick Micallef steered through seven in Buninyong's belting of Daylesford as did Brendan Sutcliffe in Gordon's demolition job on Learmonth and Dunnstown made it four wins in succession by beating Clunes.
