The 37-year-old traveled to Ballarat last week to take part in a fan forum ahead of the club's inaugural A-League season.
During the forum the club expressed a desire to play a pre-season game at Morshead Park in September, and was hoping to cement an exhibition match with another A-League club.
Speaking on behalf of the players, Durante said it was something the team would love to do.
"If we can bring a pre-season game here it would be fantastic, hopefully the local people of Ballarat would come out and support us," he said.
The 37-year-old said he had never played a game in Ballarat before and that he enjoyed playing in new places.
Having spent eleven years of his career at the Wellington Phoenix, he said he would not at all be bothered by the cold.
"Most clubs try to expand and get out to regional areas and this is us reaching out a little bit further than we would normally go, and that's really exciting," he said.
"The Western region is a huge market and I would love to see someone from Ballarat or Geelong come through the ranks, and that is exactly what the club is all about."
A pre-season encounter would bring a number of professional players to the city, including former Italian national player Alessandro Diamanti.
The 36-year-old recently signed with Western United following a professional career in Europe.
