Twenty Ballarat musicians that form 11 acts worked together to create merchandise for the launch event at the Ballarat Library on Monday.
The album launch comes after the young musicians had the opportunity to record an original song in a professional recording studio and participate in a promotional photo shoot as part of City of Ballarat's youth music development program SONIKA.
This opportunity is trying to provide resources to take that next step.
- Lucy Timms, SONIKA Records youth leader
The recordings were done at Melbourne studio Kool Skools which kick-started the music careers of Delta Goodrem and Missy Higgins.
The SONIKA Records album featuring the original song of each participating act will be released for public sale at the album launch party on August 18.
Participating artists will perform their song live at the event which will be the last ever all-ages event at Karova Lounge before it closes.
SONIKA Program youth leader Lucy Timms told The Courier in June it was an exciting journey as a young musician, but it could be challenging to know how to take the next career steps in Ballarat, like making the jump from playing in the bedroom to live venues.
"This opportunity is trying to provide resources to take that next step," she said.
Ballarat live music venues and booking agents will also receive a copy of the SONIKA Records album, which will help them consider these acts at future live music events.
Each song will also be entered into a wider competition with councils and schools, with an ARIA-style awards night set to be held later this year.
Musicians and bands will be able to use their recording to upload to Triple J Unearthed, iTunes, Spotify, Soundcloud.
The young musicians have also been exploring music industry tips on marketing and networking, booking gigs, self-management and performance planning as part of the SONIKA Records program.
This new music industry program is replacing the Push Start Comp/Battle of the Bands.
All members of the public are invited to the SONIKA Records album launch that will be held at Karova Lounge from 1pm to 5pm on August 18. Tickets to the all-ages alcohol and drug-free event are $5 and can be purchased at the door.
