Ballarat could receive its second sprinkling of snow for the year as the "strongest weather system this winter" approaches.

Four consecutive days of single-figure maximum temperatures are forecast for Ballarat as the city prepares to shiver for the remainder of the week.
A severe weather warning has also been forecast, with damaging winds set to exacerbate the already-bitter temperatures.
Damaging winds, averaging 60 to 70 km/h with peak gusts of 90 to 100 km/h are expected to develop across western Victoria this afternoon.
Peak wind gusts may reach up to 110 km/h about the southwest and central coasts and elevated terrain (above 500 metres), while about the Alpine region (above 1200 metres) peak gusts are expected to reach 120 km/h.

When it comes to snowfall, areas above 500m are a chance of receiving snow today, while it could fall as low as 400m on Friday.
There have already been reports of snow overnight in Gordon this morning, while the Daylesford region is also bracing for some flurries.
Ballarat received an unusual sprinkling of snow in May this year, but did not even come close in June or July.
Friday and Saturday are set to be the coldest days, with a forecast of just seven degrees maximum degrees forecast for Ballarat, while Sunday is only expected to reach eight degrees.
So rug up Ballarat, we're going to need an extra layer or two in order to brave this one out.
