Here is a list of our worst jobs on a day like this.
What do you think of our list?
Are there any we've missed?
Let us know on our Facebook page.
JOCKEY
One look at the racing form guide today and you'll see there's a race meeting at Ballarat.
Now, we were thinking about putting 'trackwork' rider in this, but at least they can rug up.
Jockey's with their weight issues don't have the same luxury, and think of the wind chill factor riding at 60km/h...brrrr
ROADWORK SIGN HOLDER
So any job outside on a day like this would have be hell on earth, but at least if you're working on putting down tar or re-aligning a road you're moving.
When you drive past any roadworks today, spare a thought for that poor person holding the sign.
LOLLYPOP PERSON
Continuing on the sign holding theme, and the fact that it's a school day, how about the poor lollypop men and women?
One advantage they do have however is they only need to be out in the weather for a couple of hours, but a couple of hours is still plenty of time to freeze.
MR WHIPPY
You would think any ice cream vendor today would look out the window of their van and take a day off, because the chance of hundreds of kids wanting an ice cream is probably fairly remote to say the least.
ROOFER
Anyone working a trade today we feel for you, but if you're a carpenter you can work indoors, if you're a brickie, you can create your own wind break, if you're a plumber you can head to the sewers.
But it's the roof tilers out in the elements that we reckon has the worst gig of all today.
POWER TECHNICIAN
On the theme of working in the elements, how about our electrical technicians.
On a windy and wet day, there's likely to be plenty of power outages and it's the brave souls from the power companies that will be forced to fix the issues to make everyone else warm again.
GOAL UMPIRE
Ballarat Grammar's girls are playing in a grand final today, they get to run around as much as they want, but what about the poor goal umpires?
Not a day to be standing still hoping to wave your flags a few times.
AIR CONDITIONER SALES
Ok, so at least you're indoors, but we reckon you're probably not making budget today if you're selling an air conditioner.
However, it could be a good business opportunity, put a sale on and watch the customers roll in as they plan for summer.
POSTIE
Most of the time it's a pretty good job delivering the post, riding your bike in the sunshine, unless of course you have a run in with the neighbourhood dog.
But today, not only do you have dogs, but rain, wind and chills to the bone to put up with too.
