The 12th annual Ballarat Italian Association film festival will return to Delacombe next weekend, with four diverse films programmed telling unique stories.
The first, La Ragazza Nella Nebbia (The Girl in the Fog) is a thriller which follows a detective investigating a missing person in a village.
Quanto Basta (As Needed), a comedy, is the matinee at 11am on Saturday, while the blockbuster rock opera Made In Italy on Saturday afternoon is from famous singer-songwriter and filmmaker Luciano Ligabue - the film was number one at the Italian box office when it opened in 2018.
Concluding the festival will be Figlia Mia (Daughter of Mine), an emotional drama focusing on family and mother-daughter bonds.
Festival co-organiser Evie Dichiera said the event was a good way for the Italian Association to reach out to the broader community.

"I think the films are helping to spread that Italian culture," she said.
"There are many people who are learning Italian language through groups in Ballarat, and people who are into films - particularly foreign language films, or something a little different to your normal Hollywood experience."
She added the films were chosen from the selection at last year's Melbourne's Lavazza Film Festival, which runs in September and October last year.
"We go back and review those, we select from there," she said, adding the films were all contemporary and accessible stories - her personal pick is Quanto Basta.
The festival is August 23 and 24 - tickets are $10 for each film, and festivalgoers can enjoy canapes and drinks from 7pm on Saturday before the final film for an extra $20.
Tickets can be booked at the Showbiz website.
