Podcasting has created a resurgence in demand for accessible, oral storytelling and a craft Pickford, producer for The Clever Podcast Company, shared in a mini-masterclass for the annual Words in Winter festival in Daylesford.
The session was a highlight for the Sunday program, tapping into this year's festival theme 'life'.
Words in Winter festival director Maia Irell said the session was a great way to showcase Daylesford talent in what had been a bumper line-up.
Award-winning ABC journalist Louise Milligan - best known for her Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse and compelling expose on Cardinal George Pell - headlined the festival with a packed town hall on Saturday.
Ms Irell said Milligan, backed up by true crime writer Chloe Hooper, were "absolute stars" and added strength to the integrity of the festival, which attracted visitors from across the state.
This was the 17th year of Words in Winter, the Hepburn Shire's annual arts and literary festival. Organisers drew on a mix of regional and high-profile storytellers to visit the towns across the shire and inspire visitors with words, stories and ideas for the three-day event.
Ms Irell said there had been a great visitor turnout from start to finish.
Other highlights included Daylesford-based former Neighbours writer Mark Dickenson in a workshop to help aspiring and emerging writers take their stories to the next level with his tricks from the trade.
Self-taught 'granny skills' expert Rebecca Sullivan also shared lots of things your grandmother could teach you in the kitchen. The sustainable living advocate and food curator presented her workshop at Lake House.
The festival also featured story slams and crossword competitions. Words in Winter Festival was created by David Hall and has been run by a volunteer body.
