Lamb supply eased to 7206 and sheep also easing to 3080 to total 10,286 head yarded. The usual buying group attended but didn't operate fully in the lamb sale. The quality was mixed with some well finished grain fed lamb on offer in the 22kg to 26kg categories selling to $237 to average around 860c/kg cwt and the heavy weight lambs sold to $248 to be around $5 to $10/head back on last week and more in places. Light weight 2 score lambs, 12kg to 18kg, sold from $96 to $154/head to average 740c/kg cwt. Light trade 2 and 3 score lambs 18kg to 22kg sold from $158 to $198/head to average 810c/kg cwt. Medium trade weight 3 and 4 score lambs 22kg to 24kg sold from $170 to $220/head, ranging from 722c to 922c to average 870c/kg cwt. Heavy 3 to 4 score trade weight lambs 24kg to 26kg sold from $220 to $237/head to average around 860c/kg cwt. Export lambs 26kg to 30kg sold from $220 to $248/head to average 850c/kg cwt. Restockers and feeder paid from $135 to $145 and for very light weights $70 to $115/head. Hoggets sold from $80 to $224 for crossbreds and Merino's sold from $105 to $142/head. Sheep quality was average to good with all the usual buying group operating fully with high demand on well covered mutton. The sheep market hold firm to slightly dearer on last weeks levels. Heavy Merino ewes selling to $177 and Merino wethers selling to $184/head. Light weight 1 and 2 score sheep sold from $50 to $95/head to average 550c/kg cwt. Medium weight 2 and 3 score sheep sold from $113 to $155 ranging from 539c to 674c with heavy Merino ewes sold from $160 to $177/head averaging 620c/kg cwt. Heavy Merino wethers sold from $140 to $184, medium weights sold from $110 to $160/head to average around 615c/kg cwt. Heavy 3 to 5 score crossbred sheep sold from $146 to $200/head to average 600c/kg cwt. Rams sold from $30 to $ 160/head.

Numbers increased to 106 head yarded at Ballarat today. Not all the usual buying group attended or operated fully in a firm to slightly easier market in places. The quality was average to good, with heifers accounting for approximately 50 per cent of the yarding. Vealer heifers sold to 195c and vealer steers made to 304c/kg. There was not a lot of weight in the yearling heifers, which sold to 190c, while the yarding steers made to 242c/kg for the C muscle types. Vealers to the trade sold from 239c to 304c, with feeders and restockers paying from 160c to 295c/kg. Yearlings to the trade made from 174c to 242c, and feeders and restockers paid from 159c to 216c/kg. Grown heifers to the trade sold from 280c to 291c for the heavy C muscle types, with the medium weights selling from 185c to 262c/kg. Heavy C muscle cows made from 221 to 230c to the trade, with the D muscle types selling from 180c to 221c/kg. Medium weights sold from 136c to 190c for D muscle types, with the light E scores making to 160c/kg. Heavy beef bulls sold from 210c to 260c/kg.

Sheep numbers from Victoria fell by 2000 head to see 1832 sheep and lambs offered on AuctionsPlus last week. The online market was firm to dearer, seeing gains across all stock categories, as southern operators have once again thrown their weight around the online auctions. Merino ewe hoggets across the platform rose $6 a heda on the previous week to sell from $145 to $285, and average $200, while young Merino breeders, 2 to 4-years-old, sold from $140 to $243, averaging $200. Three to 6-year-old scanned in-lamb Merino ewes from Rutherglen sold to $190. Merino wether lambs sold nationally from $86 to $151, averaging $121. Merino wether hoggets and grown wethers sold from $93 to $165, to average $125.
CATTLE
Cattle numbers from Victoria rose by just under 100 head to see 262 head offered online. Pregnancy-tested-in-calf cows sold from $800 to $1750, averaging $1104, up $25, while cows with calves at foot ranged from $900 to $2320, averaging $1409, down $42. From Strathdownie, a line of 7 to 9-year-old Angus cows with Te Mania-blood Angus calves, 3 to 5-months-old, returned $1110. Steers weighing 200-280kg sold from 285-358c/kg, averaging 322c/kg, steady on the previous week. The top price was returned by 44 Angus-cross steers from Bridgewater, 7 to 8-months-old and weighing 210kg. Selling from 270-400c/kg were steers weighing between 280-300kg, which averaged 317c/kg, slipping another 5c/kg. The top price went to a line of 54 Angus-cross steers, 11-12 months and weighing 287kg from Highlands.
