Some of the region's best young athletes have been recognised at the AFL Goldfields Junior and Youth awards night in Melton on Tuesday evening.

The awards night, which covered both the Ballarat Football League and the Riddell Football League saw the best under-13 and under-15 players from each league rewarded for their work across their respective seasons.

East Point's Keisha Darroch took out the first major award of the evening, topping the vote tally for the BFNL under-13 competition with 22 votes, four in front of joint runners-up Piper Joyce (Redan) and Isabella Davies (North Ballarat City).
Four votes would again be the winning margin when the evening moved towards the BFNL under-15 best and fairest count, with North Ballarat City's Molly Walton taking home the silverware with 20 votes, beating Redan duo Ruby Stephen's 16 and Charli Ross' 11.
East Point's Emma Smith and Redan's Morgan McCann both took most trophies for leading the under-13s and under-15s respectively in goal kicking. Smith booted 11 goals while McCann registered 14 major scores.
Tiana Parnell from the Ballarat Swans won the AFL Goldfields U15 Youth Girls Rookie of the Year Award, besting competition from both leagues.
Finally the team of the year for both age groups were revealed to close the evening. See the full teams below:
