City came within inches of stealing a win in the final minutes after a Jalil Regague strike from a set-piece found the back of the net. However the goal was waved off after the referee deemed Regagu to be offside.
Robinson described the call as a contentious one, but praised his team for generating the opportunity.
"We had a strong hold of the game which was pleasing, it happened when we had a lot of momentum and we were pushing forward," he said.
City encountered a familiar face in the match, with former star striker Riki Hosoai suiting up for Brunswick.
Hosoai had a chance to put his side a goal up with a penalty midway through the second-half, but was thwarted by Ballarat goalkeeper Ryan Schorback.
Robinson lauded Schorback's ability to rise to a pressure situation. He also heaped praise on Ballarat player Jake Francis who played his best game for the club since his arrival during the transfer period.
It was only the second draw of the year for Ballarat which is enjoying some late-season form.
"It goes to show that continual improvement and and how we are moving," Robinson said.
"We're growing in momentum and we'll take that into the final home game this week."
