THERE are major delays on the Ballarat and Geelong train lines this afternoon after a car became stuck on the tracks near the Western Ring Road forcing the cancellation of a number of services.

V/Line has tweeted this afternoon that there are major delays on both lines with the car becoming stuck just before 2pm.

It is not known what caused the car to become lodged on the tracks, but V/Line has just said at 3pm it had now been cleared.
"We are having some major delays due to a car lodged on the tracks, however, it has just been cleared, but there will now be ongoing residual delays throughout the rest of the afternoon," a spokesperson said.
A number of services on both the Ballarat and Geelong have already been cancelled while others will now be delayed.
