The Melbourne-based Western United will play two pre-season friendly games at the Ballarat Regional Soccer Facility in Morshead Park in the space of six days.
Western will face Adelaide United in its Ballarat debut on Saturday, September 21, and then meet reigning A-League champion Sydney FC on Friday, September 27, which is a public holiday for AFL grand final eve. Each games is at 3pm.
Ballarat City FC director of football James Robinson said the fixtures were the fruition of months of work and would further consolidate Western United's presence in Ballarat.
He said it was great from a grassroots point of view to be attracting the best the sport had to offer nationally.
The practice matches take the number of times Western United will play in Ballarat in its first season to six, with four regular season fixtures scheduled for Mars Stadium.
Ballarat city mayor Cr Sam McIntosh and Western United director of football Steve Horvat welcomed the additional games.
Horvat hailed the festival as an important milestone in Western United's relationship with the Ballarat region.
"With out commitment to the football family of Ballarat, these pre-season games provide the opportunity for fans within the region to connect with their own professional football club," he said.
Coach Mark Rudan said the games would provide a great test for Western United.
This will be Sydney FC's second game in Ballarat, having played Melbourne City in an FFA Cup tie in 2014.
