Stevie, her strapper for the Cup win, plays himself in the film and it touted to steal the show. The film details how Michelle continued to ride on through family tragedy and serious injury, against all odds, with support from her family.
Michelle and Stevie Payne will walk the red carpet for the regional premiere at The Regent with film producer Richard Keddie, who also produced 2015 Warrnambool-based film Oddball.
The film is the directorial debut of Australian actor Rachel Griffiths.
This is a chance for Ballarat residents to see the film before it opens nationwide later this month.
Ride Like a Girl stars Teresa Palmer as Michelle Payne alongside Sam Neill, Sullivan Stapleton, Magda Szubanski and bands of Ballarat extras. Filming was predominantly set in key Ballarat locations.
The regional premiere of Ride Like A Girl is at Regent Cinemas on Saturday, September 15, 2.15pm.
