And despite being awarded the best on ground medal in the grand final, he is quick to pass most of the praise to teammates for the 87-point thrashing of Hepburn.
"I did win it but to be honest I think Shaun Mullane or Gavin Miller probably should have got it," Coleman said.
"They definitely played better. I don't know who was watching or gave that medal out that day, but I was pretty lucky.
"(The premiership) was definitely something the community hadn't seen for a while so it was pretty special. There was a lot of happy people that had been around the place for a fair while...
"It was really good to repay those people that had been around for a long time."
Coleman will be back out on the Northern Oval - now known as Mars Stadium - for a crack at Hepburn in a grand final once again this Saturday.
He will be joined by 2006 premiership teammate Paul Dodds, who like Coleman, has returned to Waubra in 2019.
Both also played in the Roos' 2011 Central Highlands Football League triumph.
Coleman has spent time living and working in Mildura and won a flag with Sunraysia Imperials before returning to this region about two years ago.
With brother Glen playing at Waubra, it seemed like a good idea to come out of retirement and pull back on the blue and white jumper.
He has been a solid contributor in the Roos' campaign, kicking 21 goals from 13 appearances.
Coleman said the team's losses to finals contenders in the last three rounds of the home and away season gave him some doubts about Waubra's ability to win the flag.
"I wasn't sure then how we'd go, but we sort of reset when the finals came and have put together a couple of good games the last two weeks," he said.
"We are pretty confident that our best footy is good enough so we just have to do it again on the weekend...
"Obviously they are all nice to win, but this would be pretty nice."
