But a bag of four in the grand final, when it mattered most, will be more important to one of the Central Highlands Football League's leading small forwards.
In fact, Murphy's entire finals series was a ripper. He kicked six goals in the qualifying final thrashing of Buninyong, booted three in the low-scoring preliminary final battle against Gordon and then shone in the decider against Hepburn.
"I'm elated," Murphy said in the rooms after the grand final.
"I'm just really proud of the whole club and just happy to do my bit.
"There's some really good players and really good people at this club and I hope we've done them all proud."
Murphy finishes the 2019 season with 51 goals, which leaves him seventh on the league leaderboard.

With Hepburn's Sam Dunstan only able to convert twice on Saturday, Newlyn spearhead Marcus Darmody remains on top of the chart with his total of 111.
Dunstan managed 108 throughout the year.
