Dawson nabbed his 50th goal in the Vikings' 4-3 victory over Craigieburn City in the final round of the Football Victoria state league three north-west competition on Saturday.
The milestone strike came minutes before teammate Kuany Jal Tuany notched his 50th goal in the same game.
The two had players had both been locked at 49 goals prior to the match-up, leaving many to wonder if they would have to wait for next season for the race to be resolved.
The friendly competition provided a fun talking point for the club in an otherwise bleak season which saw it finish tenth on the competition table.
Dawson trailed Tuany by two goals when the The Courier first reported on the unique race in July before scoring four goals to Tuany's two in the weeks that followed.
