Coach Leigh Hutchinson, in his second season at the helm, will lead Sebastopol into battle against reigning premier East Point.
The Burra out-lasted Melton by 18 points in a tense preliminary final at the City Oval on Saturday.
Sebastopol was relentless - kicking the last three goals to keep alive the dream of a first BFL premiership.
Final scores:12.12 (84) to 10.6 (66).
The cut-throat encounter finished in dramatic circumstances with a melee in the mouth of the Sebastopol goals in the dying minutes.
The trouble erupted after Sebastopol's Geoff Lovett was awarded a free kick off the ball.
Lovett kicked his fourth goal to deliver the knockout blow on Melton.
There were also some anxious moments after the siren as tension carried over from the melee as Sebastopol and Melton players came together asa they left the field.
While no players were reported, BFL operations manager Shane Anwyl said the incident at the 28-minute mark of the last quarter and another late in the second term would be referred to the match review panel on the recommendation of the umpires.
Irrepressible defender Tony Lockyer, ruckman Toby Thoolen and fleet-footed Geoff Lovett were the catalysts for the Burra, which needed every bit of resolve it could find to get over a tirelss Melton.
The Bloods took the game by the scruff of the neck in the opening term, with four unanswered goals allowing them to open up a 22-point lead.
Sebastopol managed to narrow the deficit to 10 points by quarter time and then edge within three at the main break.
The lead changeds five times in the third quarter, with the Burra kicked adding four majors to lead by 11 points going into the final stanza,
Although the momentum, and most of a bumper crowd, was with Sebastopol, Melton had other ideas.
The Bloods were cleaner with the football, more dangerous in transition with superior outside runners and aways looked capable to taking a grip on the game in its bid for second consecutuive grand final appearance.
And it was these factors that enabled Melton kick the opening two goals of the last term - each resulting from basic Sebastopol mistakes, including a 50m penalty - in seven minutes to wrest the lead.
It was then Sam Jenkins stepped up.
He found himself on the end of a chain of handballs and then a mark to kick two goals which would end Melton's challenge.
Hugo Papst had a big game beside Lockyer in defence - particularly early when Melton was on the charge.
And up forward, Toby Hutt played the game of his life with an impressive aerial display.
Liam Carter (3 goals) was a constant headache for Sebastopol in attack for Melton, with his body work in marking duels and always looked a chance of putting the Bloods in the box seat.
Mark Orr, who started in the ruck was also a tower of strength as the likes of Connor Griffiths, Anthony Hibbert and Jack Walker gave Melton the better of clearances.
