A Ballarat woman has been accused of driving her car into her ex-partner's garage door and taking a "chunk" out of his arm with her teeth, before kicking a police officer on arrest.

Melanie Mitchell, 38, appeared in the Ballarat Magistrates Court on Monday, after being charged with criminal damage, recklessly causing injury and resisting an emergency worker.
Police prosecutor Leading Senior Constable Simon Pearce told the court that on February 12, the woman allegedly sent abusive texts to the victim, which became "more and more abusive" throughout the day, followed by abusive phone calls.
Police allege Smith threatened via text to drive her car into her ex-partner's home. At 9.40pm, the woman allegedly drove to the address in a white sedan before "ramming the vehicle into the garage".
The victim was able to remove the car keys from the ignition, with the accused woman screaming abuse at him. When he attempted to restrain her, she "bit the right arm and broke the skin ... causing a chunk to be taken from near the elbow" of the victim, Senior Constable Pearce said.
On police arrival to the address, Mitchell had already left. She was located in Cardigan Village "intoxicated and slurring her words" according to police, and she refused to take a breath test and kept walking away from officers, saying, "you didn't see me driving".
When officers told her she could lose her license for two years for refusing the breath test, she said, "I don't f**king care". When the woman was detained by police, the police prosecutor said she "began to struggle and resist", before allegedly biting an officer and kicking him in the chest several times.
Mitchell made a no-comment interview to police officers at the Ballarat Police Station following her arrest.
The woman's defence lawyer, David Tamanika, submitted that she would contest the charges. Body-worn camera footage from the two police members who arrested Mitchell will be submitted as evidence.
Magistrate Steven Raleigh told the court that if the charges were proven, "she would expect some jail term if I was dealing with the matter".
Mitchell will return to the Ballarat Magistrates Court on November 27.
