The festival kicks off on Saturday when Western United take-on Adelaide United in a A-League preseason clash at Morshead Park. It will be the first of two professional games held in Ballarat over a six-day span.
Robinson said it was time for locals to hop on board and enjoy the ride.
"I think this showcases what our facility can bring, and allows the community to observe professional football up close," he said.
"It's also an opportunity to say professional football is going be based here which is what we are looking to galvanise, because we hope to make this a permanent fixture."
Adelaide United arrived in Ballarat on Friday and held an open training session in front of fans. Adelaide United assistant coach Gerald Sibon said he was excited to take-on the newest franchise which he considered to be a boost for the league.
"I think it's great, it's good for the league to have more teams and for us to have more games," he said.
"I can only encourage them to get more teams because it's only good for the game."
Adelaide are one of the most intriguing teams heading into the season after winning four of its last five games to finish fourth on the 2018-19 A-League table.
The team will enter Saturday's contest with 24 players, all of whom are capable of suiting up. Sibon said they boasted a young squad.
"Every time we can play a game we're excited, hopefully we can play a good game against Western United," he said.
The match will mark the first visit to Morshead Park for Adelaide which are the current FFA Cup holders. The team has also played games in Brisbane and Melbourne.
While still experimenting with tactics and line-ups ahead of the season, Sibon hoped his players could still put on a show for Ballarat fans.
"We want to improve, it's not really about winning in the preseason but if you can win, you get a bit of confidence which is nice."
The match will be a good hit-out for Western United which face reigning A-League champions Sydney FC in Ballarat next Friday.
The newest A-League franchise has had an up and down preseason thus far which has included a win over Melbourne City and a 6-0 loss to Melbourne Victory.
The Festival of Football will kick-off at 3pm today at Morshead Park.
